@laptopguide Oh ok thank you very much, much appreciated!

  2. laptopguide says:

@fastang2 Low priced laptop and ideally you want dedicated or discrete graphics for gaming but Cnet points out the integrated ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics can play Unreal Tournament 3 at the 1,366×768 resolution (25 frames per second) so it should be able to play those games.

Hey is an Acer Aspire 5532 laptop ok for some modern games such as(but not downloaded all together only 1) Vindictus,Continent of the ninth, and dragon nest. now as i said before i only want at least one of them, then when i get bored of one i will uninstall it and move on to another. so i will have only one game on my laptop , so is this an ok laptop?

  5. KERRRISSS says:

if you don’t have blu ray in your laptop your graphics won’t be as good!?

  6. borderlandsboy says:

@njoey1 Honestly, for 500 bucks there aren’t any really great gaming laptops. If you are getting a gaming pc for under 1000, make sure it has a decent graphics card. Most under $1000 pc’s have cheap intel integrated chipsets that won’t run any games. Look up a video on building your own gameing rig. If you are on a short budget that would be the best thing to do.

@MegadrixfireZ The Asus G73JH-A1 is great. It runs crysis no problem on maxed out settings. Also look into the hp envy 17. Stay away from alienware though, i have had some bad experiences with them since they became part of dell. Sagers aren’t half bad either. (Beware, the asus will eat up power. Battery only lasts like an hour and a half, so it’s for mostly in home use.)

  8. borderlandsboy says:

@jose95876 They were before they became dell. Then they became dell peices of crap that seem to break alot. And, you have to go through dell, which has the worst tech support. A brick wall would be more helpful then dell tech support.

@laptopguide Thank you very much for your information. I have, however discovered the specific specs my toshiba satellite a500 (/o2j I think?) has:
    Intel Core i5 CPU M 430 @ base 2.27 GHz
Total amount of 4 GB RAM system memory
    32-bit operating system (64-bit capable)
    2 processor cores
NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M (1024 MB dedicated graphics memory, 2298 MB total available)
Thank you again for the insight and it does have very nice speakers :) Playing ME2 currently, no problems, a bit of aliasing

  10. laptopguide says:

@Keyblade660 Depends on how its configed – believe thats an older model Toshiba – probably now replaced with the Toshiba Satellite A660 which has the Nvidia GeForce GT 330M and you should be able to play games like Crysis at medium resolutions. Actually, I have had an even older model Toshiba Satellite 100 and have used it for years without any problems. Personally, while some critics say the screens are not bright enough, I have always liked the Toshiba Displays and the harman/kardon sound.

  11. Keyblade660 says:

How would you say the toshiba satellite a500 is for gaming (the one with the i5 processor – sorry, not to sure on the exact model)? it runs games pretty well, but there’s a notice amount of aliasing around edges that kinda bugs me.. how would you rate it?

  12. WiLoC21 says:

    @laptopguide sweet thanks man

  13. laptopguide says:

@jasche123 Actually, the G71Gx-A2 is one of the ones I would recommend. As for battery life, you’re going to be hard pressed to get more than an hour or two even on high-end rigs, but you could look at the Alienware m11x which is small but will give you up to 6-8hrs of battery life depending on how you use it.

  14. jasche123 says:

hey im sorry to be another person who bugs you on this…..but i was hoping that you wud recommend a gaming laptop for me at around $1200?
I was really interested with the asus G71Gx-A2, but the battery life was too low (2 hours).
    Many thanks

  15. laptopguide says:

@WiLoC21 That’s cutting it real low for a gaming laptop but you could check out ASUS and MSI. I would also be concerned with the merchant… many go with Amazon because if you should run into trouble, they are pretty good. You could also look at Tigerdirect – I have had no trouble with any orders from them. Also check out refurbished laptops at those places – you’re taking a chance but you will get better specs for the price.

  16. laptopguide says:

@jose95876 Depends on the machine – many gamers go with Alienware but if money is no object you should check out Origin PC (New company from the guys who started/ran Alienware before Dell bought it in 2006. Also check out Sager, Falcon, Rockdirect… and if you’re on a budget try ASUS, MSI and even Toshiba.

  17. WiLoC21 says:

@laptopguide alright good to know. any other suggestions for a good gaming laptop for around $800

  18. jose95876 says:

so alien computers arent the best?

  19. laptopguide says:

@WiLoC21 Depends – Earlier and lower priced models of the HP DV6T had the integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD which is not really suited for gaming but if you can get the optional discrete ATI Mobility Radeon(TM) HD 5650 graphics card which supports DirectX 11 – should be able to play most games.

  20. WiLoC21 says:

hey so im thinkin about gettin a laptop for around 800 dollars. I want to be able to play games and stuff like starcraft 2, FFXIV, and crysis 2 and stuff. ive been looking at the HP DV6T do you think this is a good choice or do you have any other ideas?

  21. hkbloodjunkie says:

msi has some very good quality gaming laptops… assuming you can find one.

  22. laptopguide says:

@MegadrixfireZ Hard to judge – would depend how each one is configed… I would look for a GPU that could handle DirectX 11… not many games with that yet but kinda future proofing. Would look at the new i5 or i7 processors… and have Full 1080p display with Blu-ray. Top brands are Alienware, Falcon, Sager, Rockdirect… Voodoo Envy were among those names until HP bought it – so I would be looking at the Envy 17 but the heat issue still concerns me – more feedback is needed before I buy.

  23. MegadrixfireZ says:

@laptopguide wich one you consider the best?

  24. MegadrixfireZ says:

@laptopguide oh thanks i will check them out :P .

  25. laptopguide says:

@MegadrixfireZ So many choices but you could look at the Asus G73JH-A1 or G51JX-A1. The G73JH-A1 has Intel Core i7 processor, DirectX 11-enabled ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870 graphics processor with 1GB GDDR5 VRAM, and 8GB DDR3 of system memory. Then compare it with similar laptops from Alienware, Sager and even the new HP Envy 17.
